The history of Christmas tree and carols
Currently nobody are able to imagine the holidays without Christmas tree and holiday carols. However does anybody have knowledge about where did those customs come from?
The history of holiday tree
The tradition of Christmas tree comes from Germany. In the 16th century German Christians brought into their houses the decked trees. Somebody was made wooden pyramids and decorated them with candles and evergreens. Lights was added to a Christmas tree by Martin Luther in the 16th century too. Inspiration for candles appears in the time of walking. Mentioned protestant reformer one December evening noticed brillinace of stars twinkling amidst plants.

It’s worth to know that majority of 19th century American citizens found holiday trees as crankiness. The first information about holiday tree in that region come from 1830s and say about German settlers as a proprietors of holiday tree. Somebody hold that the German settlers had Christmas trees even in 1747. However, as late as the 1840s holiday trees were treated as pagan symbols and they were not approved by majority of Americans.
The history of carols
The definition of „carol” actually means dance or a song of joy and praise. In the past carols were songs of pagans those were sung at the celebration of Winter Solstice when members of event danced around circles of stone. Early Christians inspired pagan customs and gave songs for Christian. In 129 the song „Angel’s Hymn” was known and sung during Christmas service in Italy. Another Christmas song was created in 760 by Comas from Jerusalem. Then more and more composers all over the Europe started creating Christmas songs. But majority of carols was sung in Latin and that’s why a lots of Christians had lost interest those things.
Christmas tree and holiday carols are amazing customs those have to be continued between generations. The knowledge about long history of Holiday tree and carols makes them even more magnificent.
